Description |
Eagle with spread wings in relief, beneath eagle "For Distinguished Public Service", around rim, "Thomas Alva Edison, Inventor, World Benefactor, 1915". On reverse - classical female figure in flowing robes carrying torch and small winged victory. To left of figure "Founded New York, 1907". Around rim "The Civic Forum". On rim is engraved "Paul Manship Sculptor". Bronze. Catalog Work Sheet Marks: text as above Round bronze coin, badly tarnished on front side, less so on back, with a classical woman holding a trophy-sized statue and a torch on the front; an eagle with full wing-spread on back standing on a twig - all in medium and low relief. All letters of inscription on both sides are in low relief, except sculptor's name on side - that's engraved. |
