Description |
Edison Standard Model A Phonograph. Known as the "square top" because of its box design. Introduced in February of 1898 in the United States and soon after in the United Kingdom. Has a single spring barrel and can play two to three cylinders with a complete winding. Has brass gears. Flat top cover secured by suitcase clips. This model was produced in 1900, judging by the two suitcase clips on the front and two on the back. A separate horn was included to be installed on the reproducer, which is on top of the metal cylindrical mandrel. (Source - Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion by George L. Frow, pgs. 113-115.) |
