Description |
Edison Home Phonograph Model A. Known as the "suitcase" model because of the suitcase clips that fastened the cover to the base. Was first introduced in December of 1896 in the United States and in October of 1897 in the United Kingdom. This played 2-minute cylinders and was able to play up to six cylinders with a complete wind from a single spring. This unit costs $40 at the time and came with accessories such as a 14-inch brass horn, 2-way hearing tubes, oil can and camel-hair chipbrush.
