Description |
Crocker Wheeler generator made by the Crocker-Wheeler Electric Company, based in Ampere, New Jersey. According to our sources, this generator was used by Edison to light his early carbonized bamboo filament bulbs, probably in the 1890s. It was given by Fred Ott, one of Edison's trusted assistants, to a friend in 1931. Material: various metals DIMS: 7 1/2"(9.1cm)H; 6 1/2"(16.6cm)W; 5 1/2"(14cm)D Marks: "Crocker Wheeler"- this is imprinted in the metal on both sides of the generator |
