Description |
This is an Edison Opera Phonograph. First produced in November of 1911 in the United States and January 1912 in the United Kingdom, this phonograph sold for $90. The case was made of mahogany wood and had pillars at each corner, a very unique Edison design. It had a double-spring for longer lasting plays, as opposed to earlier Edison phonographs, because the Opera played 4-minute cylinders. Edison opera phonograph. Wood lid has one handle on top. Hole to allow for horn. Phonograph has 2 cranks on side and 2 handles. Wooden base and metal top plate (painted brown w/gold design) Paint chipping off of top plate wood has minor scratches |
