Description |
Actually considered a small plaquette. (Rectangular shaped) In relief standing female figure, classically draped arms outspread holding in one, on cord, a lamp. Standing on rock superimposed with circular medallion with "American Museum of Safety" around rim, coiled serpent at base in middle "Now let us conserve human life." On reverse "First International Exposition of Safety and Sanitation, New York City, 1913. Commemorative medal". Bronze. Marks text as above Rectangular bronze-colored plaquette medal, front sculpture of a woman holding 1/2 a scale with both arms outstretched is in relief - she stands on the museum of safety's emblem, back has inscription - all letters on both sides are in relief. medal is tarnished, especially on back and in crevices. |
