Description |
Edison GEM Phonograph Model A. "The GEM was the baby of the Edison phonographs and was brought out in 1899 to compete with other small phonographs then on the market. Collectors will find that the GEM is still the smallest practical phonograph for regular use as it does not suffer the disadvantages of the floating reproducer and maybe adjusted within resonable limits to play well, although most found have noisy motors." (from Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion by George L. Frow, pg. 134) Small phonograph black with gold trim mounted on wood base. Horn is black with brass end. Silver tone mechanism. Big key crank on right side. |
