Description |
This bulb was produced by the Schaefer Electric Manufacturing Company and dates back to 1887. It has a single filament and two separate electrical cords extending from the base that are wrapped around each other. Early electrical cord safety coverings were made of fabric or fibrous material, which would later be deemed unsafe for various reasons. These wire coverings could become brittle over time. Also they were easily chewed through by rodents or insects and also some were lined with asbestos. Clear glass, metal, wire. Schaefer bulb. Single filament. Circa 1887.
